HC Deb 22 November 1984 vol 68 cc232-3W
Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many driving test examiners have been dismissed from their posts as a result of complaints received about their conduct during driving tests (a) nationally and (b) in East Anglia in each of the last four years.

Mrs. Chalker

One driving examiner has been dismissed in the past four years—in July 1984—as a result of complaints about his conduct during driving tests. The examiner in question was not stationed in East Anglia.

Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for Transport (1) how many complaints he has received (a) nationally and (b) in East Anglia about the conduct of driving test examiners in each of the last four years;

(2) how many investigations into allegations of intimidation by driving test examiners have been carried out by his Department (a) nationally and (b) in East Anglia in each of the last four years.

Mrs. Chalker

I regret that this information is not readily available, but I am writing to the hon. Member.
