HC Deb 22 November 1984 vol 68 c224W
Mr. Michie

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will give the total cost to Her Majesty's Government of the basing of ground-launched cruise missiles at RAF Molesworth.

Mr. Stanley

The bulk of the cost of basing ground-launched cruise missiles at RAF Molesworth will be met from NATO infrastructure funds, to which the United Kingdom contributes 12 per cent. The detailed costs in this case have yet to be finalised. Equally, it is not possible to say at this stage what additional host nation costs will fall directly on Her Majesty's Government.

Mr. Terlezki

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will assess the impact on North Atlantic Treaty Organisation policy of the decision of the Dutch Government to defer deployment of cruise missiles.

Mr. Stanley

The Netherlands Government have undertaken important positive commitments in the decision announced on 1 June and subsequently endorsed by the Dutch Parliament. The Dutch have spelt out very clearly the circumstances in which they could deploy their full share of cruise missiles and that they would do so., if required, within the existing five-year schedule of the NATO programme.
