§ Mr. Craigenasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what evidence he has received from building societies 164W regarding possible abuse of the mortgage interest relief at source scheme by applicants for a mortgage attempting to obtain tax relief on more than one property.
§ Mr. Moore[pursuant to his reply, 20 November 1984, c. 95–96] I am not aware of evidence put forward by building societies indicating a particular problem of abuse of the mortgage interest relief at source scheme through claims for more than one property. If the hon. Member has information relevant to abuse of the scheme, perhaps he would write to me with details.
