§ Mr. Tony Banksasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what is the deadline for responses
114Wof their ages and the locations of the prisons involved: and if he will give the comparable figures for each of the past five years where applicable.
§ Mr. MellorThe latest information readily available is given in the following table:
115Wto his consultation paper of 20 September on local authority support for the voluntary sector in the event of the Greater London council being abolished; and after which date responses will cease to be considered;
(2) if his consultation document of 20 September on the Government's proposals for local authority support for the voluntary sector in the event of the Greater London council being abolished has been sent to the Association of London Authorities;
(3) what action he intends to take if the London boroughs do not meet together prior to replying to his consultation document of 20 September on local authority support for the voluntary sector in the event of the Greater London council being abolished.
§ Mr. WaddingtonNo deadline was set for responses to the consultation paper issued by the Department on 20 September. The document was not sent to the Association of London Authorities, but copies went to the Greater London council and to the councils of all London boroughs, that is to all the members of this association. The Department would welcome a response from the association to the document or a request for a meeting about it. I understand that representatives of all the London boroughs and the City will be meeting on 12 December in the normal way to consider grants to be made collectively to voluntary organisations in 1985–86 and other matters. Their comments on the consultation paper would also be welcome.
