Mr. Geoffrey Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the offices of his Department in which his Policy Inspectorate's inquiry into single payments for furniture was carried out.

Mr. Whitney

The following offices were visited during the course of the inquiry into single payments for furniture:

Information was also obtained from a further 15 offices which were not visited.

Mrs. Clwyd

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the changes to heating addition paid to pensioners on supplementary benefit which will take effect from 29 November.

Mrs. Beckett

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what information is available on the numbers of young supplementary benefit claimants moving into accommodation where they are treated as boarders.

The available information on numbers of people claiming supplementary benefit as boarders is as follows:

Mrs. Beckett

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what savings he expects to make as a result of (a) changes in the way supplementary benefit board and lodging ceilings are set, (b) restrictions on local and lodging payments to young supplementary benefit claimants and (c) changes in the way supplementary benefit residential care and nursing home ceilings are set.
