§ Mr. Peter BottomleySustainable employment in the private sector depends on a healthy economy and competitive industry. Our policies will continue to be directed towards this end, and towards improving the operation of the labour market. We will continue to seek effective means of building on our achievements to date, and, in common with other Departments, the Department is participating in a broad scrutiny of legislation and administrative processes with the aim of relieving the business community of unnecessary restrictions and regulations.
