§ Mr. Shersbyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what percentage of the population where the husband and wife are both working have a gross income in excess of £20,000 per year.
§ Mr. Moore[pursuant to his reply, 19 November 1984, c.41]: A provisional estimate for 1984–85 based on 97W projections from the 1982–83 survey of personal incomes is that about 11 per cent. of married couples where both husband and wife are earning have a gross income in excess of £20.000. Gross income is taken to include only those forms of income liable to income tax.
