Mr. Colvin

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish in the Official Report the annual figures since 1970 showing the number of cases in the following categories (a) leukaemias, (b) myeloid leukaemia, (c) Hodgkin's disease, (d) lymphosarcoma, (e) all diagnoses of cancer and (f) abnormalities at birth, for Scotland.

The figures for categories(a) to (e) for 1970 to 1980 are given in the following publications, both of which are in the Library:

"Cancer Registration and Survival Statistics Scotland 1963 to 1977".

"Cancer Registration Statistics Scotland 1971 to 1980". The figures for 1981 (the latest year for which figures are available) are as follows:

Comprehensive figures on abnormalities at birth are not available, but the data collected since 1980 show that congenital abnormalities recorded, as percentages of live births, were:
