HC Deb 20 November 1984 vol 68 c88W
Mr. Warren

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if, in the light of the recent British Telecom study on military printed circuit boards, he will review urgently the reliability of defence equipment; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Butler

No evidence of risk of short-circuiting in printed circuit boards found in this unpublished study has been reported in the defence field. The study was concerned with the PCBs which are left unprotected in the open air in places like roadside cabinets or manholes. This is not the case with the PCBs in military equipment. When the detailed results of the study are available the possibility of a read-across to military equipment will be considered.
