HC Deb 20 November 1984 vol 68 cc118-9W
Mr. Garrett

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many doctors in north Tyneside have the maximum number of National Health Service patients on their lists.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

One.

Mr. Garrett

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people in north Tyneside are unable to be placed on a doctors' panel.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

None, so far as I am aware. Any persons experiencing difficulties in gaining acceptance on a general medical practitioner's list may seek the assistance of the local family practitioner committee who will allocate them to a doctor.

Mr. Garrett

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what arrangements are being made to recruit more doctors in north Tyneside.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

We are not aware of any particular difficulties over recruitment of doctors in north Tyneside. So far as general medical practitioners are concerned, this is a matter for the medical practices committee, which considers north Tyneside to be adequately doctored.
