HC Deb 20 November 1984 vol 68 c141W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Employment why people working at the Denton skillcentre and employment rehabilitation centre are engaged in removing labels, saying "Made in Taiwan" from clothing.

Mr. Alan Clark

[pursuant to his reply, 19 November, 1984, c. 52]: Routine work of this kind is carried out in employment rehabilitation centres in order to provide an opportunity in appropriate cases for assessing the dexterity of disabled people and their ability to maintain output on repetitive work. Work of this kind is not carried out in skillcentres.

I am looking into the exact nature of this operation, and I shall write to the hon. Member as soon as possible.
