asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list his powers to discipline or otherwise rebuke the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis.

My right hon. and learned Friend has no such statutory powers; the Commissioner is appointed by Her Majesty the Queen and holds office at pleasure.
