§ The Prime MinisterThe new airport in the Falkland Islands is not yet in operation. I understand that Virgin Atlantic Airways submitted an application to the Civil Aviation Authority for a licence to operate services, but has not followed it up. No other airline has expressed interest in providing a scheduled service, but British Airways is negotiating with the Ministry of Defence a contract to carry service personnel between this country and the Falklands.
