HC Deb 19 November 1984 vol 68 cc2-3W
16. Mr. Terlezki

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement about the effect on industries in Wales of the miners' strike.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

The coal mining industry and its related industries are clearly badly affected. Other industries throughout Wales are generally continuing to operate without serious difficulty, but there may be injurious effects upon business and retailing in coal mining areas. It is time that the National Union of Mineworkers brought this costly and damaging strike to an end, in Wales and elsewhere.
