HC Deb 19 November 1984 vol 68 c71W
Mr. Best

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his policy regarding the marketing of products designed to reduce blood alcohol levels on matters within his responsibility; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

If a product were marketed explicitly for the purpose of interfering with the normal operation of a physiological function, it would probably require a licence under the Medicines Act. If any such product appeared on the market consideration would be given to enforcing the requirements of the Act.
