HC Deb 16 November 1984 vol 67 c367W
Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he is satisfied with the present state of the pig industry in Wales; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

In Wales the pig breeding herd has continued to decline, the provisional census figures for June 1984 show a fall of 18 per cent. in the breeding herd since June 1983 and now stands at around 14,300 head. However, there are indications that the situation is changing with a slight increase in the size of breeding herd anticipated.
