§ Mr. WhitneyMaternity pay is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment who informs me that the figures for(a) are 118,128 and 125,239. In addition, payments were made to about 6,600 civil servants in each year. The figures for (b) are 333,200 and (up to 30 September 1983, the latest date to which figures are available) 243,500.
