§ Mr. YoungerThe Scottish Office has two model 3032 mainframe computers manufactured in France by International Business Machines Ltd. They were purchased separately in 1979 and 1980 and cost £1,633,101 and £1,054,303, respectively.
Equipment peripheral to the mainframe computers and purchased over a period of years was also manufactured by IBM and cost £2,147,726. It had a number of countries of origin including the United Kingdom, United States of America, West Germany and Sweden.
338WThe Scottish Office also uses 145 micro and minicomputers purchased over a period of some years from a variety of manufacturers including Apple Computer (UK) Ltd., Commodore Business Machines (UK) Ltd., Comart Ltd., Cromenco Ltd., Digital Equipment Co. Ltd., Hewlett Packard Ltd., International Business Machines (UK) Ltd., International Computers Ltd. and Lucas Industries Ltd. No central record is held of purchase costs or country of origin of manufacture.
