HC Deb 15 November 1984 vol 67 cc325-6W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if, following the autumn statement, he will list the consequences in financial terms of the cutback in agricultural grants in Wales in 1984–85 and 1985–86; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

There are no reductions in the provision for 1984–85 as a result of the autumn statement. Following the changes announced in that statement the planned expenditure on agriculture in 1985–86 for which I am responsible shows a net reduction of £17 million. This net figure results from increases and decreases in a number of areas, but the largest element is a net reduction of some £16 million in the forecast demand for schemes pre-funded by the European Community.
