The numbers of households accommodated in privately rented or owner occupied purpose built flats constructed before 1940 as estimated from the "National Dwelling and Housing Survey 1977" were 10,800 in Westminster with a further 3,200 age unrecorded and 9,300 in Kensington and Chelsea with a further 1,200 age unrecorded. In Camden, the age of the building was unrecorded for virtually all properties.
