Mr. Pike

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the staff levels at his Department's Burnley offices; how these compare with one year ago; and whether any changes are proposed.

Mr. Whitney

The complement of staff allocated to the Burnley office on 1 November 1983 was 196 and the actual staff in post at that date was 204. The complement on 1 November 1984 was 195 and the actual staff in post at that date was 205. The Burnley office has been authorised to recruit to a staffing level of 208 by 1 December 1984.
