HC Deb 14 November 1984 vol 67 cc246-7W
11. Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the denial of family and legal access to the three members of the UDF in the British consulate in Durban.

Sir Geoffrey Howe

On a number of occasions they or those visiting them indulged in political activity, and thus abused our consular premises. In the absence of any assurance that this would cease we had no choice but to withdraw permission for visitors, except for doctors where necessary.
