§ 37. Mr. Neil Thorneasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement about progress with recruiting for the armed services.
§ Mr. StanleyOverall recruiting to the armed services remains good. In 1983–84 some 37,000 men and women entered the armed services on regular engagements and this year we expect to recruit a similar number. Recruiting targets are generally being met except for a few areas such as some officer categories, technicians and skilled tradesmen.
