HC Deb 13 November 1984 vol 67 c159W
Q42. Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Prime Minister if she is satisfied with the rate of progress in the reduction of the perinatal mortality rate.

The Prime Minister

I am greatly encouraged by the improvement that is being made. The perinatal mortality rate in England and Wales has fallen by almost a third over the past five years. The rates for Scotland and Northern Ireland are also falling in line with this trend. There is every reason to believe that they will fall yet further.
