asked the Secretary of State for Energy what discussions he or his officials have had with nationalised energy industries regarding the seeking of injunctions by the industries against secondary picketing of its installations in the current miners' dispute; and if he will make a statement.

My right hon. Friend has been in close touch with the Chairman of the nationalised energy industries in connection with matters arising from the miners' dispute.

The Government have made clear that they would not wish to discourage any employers from using the legal remedies which are available to them as a result of employment legislation. Action under these provisions, however, must be a judgment for individual managements.
