HC Deb 12 November 1984 vol 67 cc135-6W
Mr. Nicholson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, what was the average percentage trend in wholesale milk deliveries between in determining the regional or provisional regional wholesale quotas published in the London Gazette on 25 July.

Mr. MacGregor

I regret that there is a typographical error in the Order Paper which means that I am unable to understand the question. I shall reply to the hon. Member as soon as possible after it is corrected.

Mr. Nicholson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the average percentage trend in wholesale milk deliveries between 1981 and 1983 in the United Kingdom; and what was the percentage trend in wholesale deliveries between 1981 and 1983 in each of the nine regions of the United Kingdom.

Mr. MacGregor

Between 1981 and 1983, wholesale milk deliveries in the United Kingdom increased by 9.14 per cent. For the same period the increase in England and Wales was 7.9 per cent. In Scotland, the increase was 11.63 per cent. In Northern Ireland the increase was 19.53 per cent. Detailed figures are not immediately available for the other regions and I hope to provide them shortly.

Mr. Nicholson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food on what mathematical basis the trend sin wholesale milk deliveries were taken into account in determining the percentage reductions on 1983 wholesale deliveries in each of the nine regions of the United Kingdom.

Mr. MacGregor

I refer the hon. Member to the evidence of my right hon. Friend to the House Agriculture Committee on 4 July 1984.
