HC Deb 12 November 1984 vol 67 cc64-5W
Mr. Tim Smith

asked the Attorney-General whether any change has been made to the class IX, vote 9, cash limit for the Treasury Solicitor's Department.

The Attorney-General

Subject to parliamentary approval of the necessary supplementary estimate, the cash limit for class IX, vote 9, will be increased by £1,295,000 from £12,062,000 to £13,357,000.

An additional £94,000 is required by the Department of the Director of Public Prosecutions for the establishment on 1 January 1985 of a fraud investigation group. Additional provision of £1,220,000 is required as a result of the misallocation of the provision transferred from the Property Services Agency for the property repayment services.

The increase will be partly offset by increased receipts of £19,000. In addition, £422,000 is being transferred from the Department of Education and Science to whom the Property Repayment Services provision was originally misallocated. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education is announcing today the consequent reduction to the cash limit on class X, vote 4. The remaining requirement of £873,000 will be charged to the Reserve and has been taken into account in the estimated outturn of the public expenditure planning total for 1984–85 given in the autumn statement on 12 November 1984.
