HC Deb 12 November 1984 vol 67 c147W
Mr. Meacher

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what action he intends to take following the results of the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys longitudinal study about mortality levels in unemployed men and their wives; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

As stated in a reply given on 31 October at column1085, this study was carried out by a research team based at the City university, as part of a programme of work financed by the Medical Research Council to analyse data compiled by the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys.

I understand that a paper presenting some results from the study is to be published in a few weeks' time, in a medical journal. Ministers will carefully consider the findings once they have been published.
