HC Deb 12 November 1984 vol 67 c155W
Mr. Chris Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what are the duties of the Ministry of Defence police; to whom the chief constable of the Ministry of Defence police reports; and what complaints procedure exists for matters relating to the actions of this force.

Mr. Lee

It is the duty of the Ministry of Defence Police to protect and police Ministry of Defence establishments and to protect Crown property. The chief constable reports to the second permanent under-secretary of state. In common with other police forces in England and Wales the Ministry of Defence police are subject to the complaints procedure which was established by the Police Act 1976.
