HC Deb 12 November 1984 vol 67 c118W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what has been the change in real terms of the total moneys allocated to local authorities in Wales over the period 1979–80 to 1983–84; and if he will provide separate figures for district and county authorities.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

We assume that the hon. Gentleman is concerned with central Government grants and subsidies to local authorities. These fell by £92 million between 1979–80 and 1983–84 (at 1983–84 prices). A separate comparison for county and district authorities is not possible because of the introduction of block grant in 1981–82.
