HC Deb 12 November 1984 vol 67 cc93-4W
Mr. Loyden

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) what is the latest figure for youth unemployment in the Liverpool travel-to-work area;

(2) what are the latest figures for female unemployment in the Liverpool travel-to-work area;

(3) what are the latest figures for male unemployment in the Liverpool travel-to-work area.

Mr. Alan Clark

The information requested for the new travel-to-work area will become available next year. Corresponding data for the old Liverpool travel-to-work area are available in the House of Commons Library.

Mr. Loyden

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the percentage of unemployment among blind people of working age, namely, men under 65 years and women under 60 years.

Mr. Alan Clark

The information is not available.

Mr. Pike

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give the number of those aged under 20 years who were unemployed in (a) the county of Lancashire and (b) the borough of Burnley in May 1979 and at the latest available date; and what is the percentage increase.

Mr. Alan Clark

Information on the age of claimant unemployed in administrative districts and counties will become available next year. Corresponding data for the old travel-to-work areas in the county of Lancashire are available in the House of Commons Library. The figures for 1979 are not directly comparable with current statistics because of the October 1982 change in the basis of the count.
