HC Deb 12 November 1984 vol 67 c155W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) if he will estimate the potential savings to be made from the generic prescribing and dispensing of drugs in the armed services;

(2) if it is his policy to promote generic prescribing and dispensing of drugs in the armed services.

Mr. Lee

It has long been Ministry of Defence policy to insist on generic dispensing of drugs, whatever the prescription, when a generic equivalent of the item prescribed exists. The Ministry of Defence therefore, already achieves the full economies of generic dispensing and there are consequently no further potential savings in this respect.
