§ 79. Mr. Wareingasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent discussions he has had with his European Economic Community counterparts on increasing assistance to developing countries; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. RaisonAt the Development Council on 6 November, I discussed the various initiatives taken by the Community to aid developing countries. In particular Development Ministers endorsed an addition of 32 million ecu (£19 million) to the 1984 Community aid budget for emergency assistance to those suffering famine in Africa. On 11 October the Community offered 7 billion ecu (£4,140 million) for the 6th European development fund, an increase of over 50 per cent. on EDF V.
