asked the Secretary of State for Wales what are the latest figures for the rate of implementation of the programmes to remove asbestos from council houses in Wales; and if he will make special financial provision from central Government funds to accelerate the programme.

In many cases asbestos is best left alone if it is in a good and solid condition. It is up to each district council to decide on the appropriate action for dealing with asbestos in its housing stock and there is no central programme.
