Mr. Nellist

asked the Prime Minister if she will arrange for detailed information on the cost of the mining dispute to be collected and made available to Parliament in the manner of the information provided by the Secretary of State for Social Services in relation to the dispute at the computer centre in Tyne and Wear.

The final cost cannot be determined until the strike ends, but the scale of what would be involved for the PSBR if the strike continued until Christmas was given to the House by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 30 October at column 1184.
