HC Deb 12 November 1984 vol 67 cc86-7W
Mr. Eggar

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what changes have been made in the cash limit which is to be applied in the current financial year to the provision under class IV, vote 6, Scientific and Technological Assistance (Department of Trade and Industry).

Mr. Pattie

The outturn on this Vote for 1983–84 showed expenditure of £211,000 in excess of that year's cash limit. The overspend arose as a result of shortcomings in the day-to-day operation of financial control systems, which are now being improved. In accordance with normal practice, the cash limit on this Vote for this financial year will now be reduced by the amount of the previous year's overspend. The new cash limit will therefore be reduced by £211,000 from £378,178,000 to £377,967,000.

Mr. Eggar

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he has any changes to announce in the cash limit for class IV, vote 2, covering miscellaneous support services.

Mr. Norman Lamont

I propose to reduce the cash limit for class IV, vote 2 by £1,467,000 from £87,195,000 to £85,728,000. The reduction will be used to offset in part the overspend on regional and selective assistance on class IV vote 1.
