§ Mr. Proctorasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the redevelopment of Broadmoor hospital, Berkshire.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeBroadmoor hospital is being completely redeveloped on its existing site. Following completion of certain advance works, construction of the first stage of the redevelopment of Broadmoor hospital started in February 1984. This stage, which comprises a new ward block, medical centre, central kitchen and stores, administration offices and gatehouse, is due for completion in Autumn 1986. Design work is proceeding on the second stage, which consists of two further ward blocks and an occupations/education complex. Construction is planned to start shortly after work on the first stage is completed. Further stages are planned to follow leading to completion of the new hospital in about 1997.
