asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the procedure by which a child educated under the boarding school allowance scheme for the children of Her Majesty's forces can move to another school than that orignally selected; and if he will specify what the implications of such a move are for receipt of the boarding school allowance.

Payment of boarding school allowance is normally conditional upon a child continuing to attend the school for which it was first authorised. The allowance regulations recognise that changes of school are necessary on completion of a stage of education, that is primary or secondary. Other changes of school may continue to attract payment of the allowance in certain circumstances, for example, ill-health, significant increase of school fees or significant alteration of a school's curriculum or standards. Cases which fail to satisfy these criteria are referred to the Ministry of Defence for decision and may
