HC Deb 12 November 1984 vol 67 c84W
Mr. Batiste

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he is satisfied that the United States Government will not seek to enforce their Export Administration Act over products and expertise arising from projects under the Alvey programme in which United States controlled companies have participated or may participate.

Mr. Channon

Contracts and grants under the Alvey programme are for research carried out in the United Kingdom. As a matter of United Kingdom law, United States export controls have no force in the United Kingdom and Her Majesty's Government will continue to resist attempts by the United States Administration to apply their controls within the United Kingdom.
