§ Mr. ChannonThe London economic summit in June referred to the important contribution which a new round of multilateral trade negotiations would make to strengthening the open multilateral trading system. The United Kingdom will continue to work through the European Community for a properly prepared new round. But it will be necessary to secure the willing and effective participation of GATT contracting parties as a whole.
