§ Mr. Ron Daviesasked the Secretary of State for Wales if any members of the Forestry Commission's management structure review group, which reported in April 1982, or its headquarters and conservancy review group, which reported in January in the current year, visited the proposed site for the amalgamation of the Forestry Commission's Welsh Conservancy offices at Aberystwyth prior to any decisions to amalgamate.
§ Mr. John Stradling ThomasNo members of either group visited Aberystwyth during the two reviews. However, both groups had members who were familiar with the situation at Aberystwyth, and the views put forward by commission staff stationed in Wales were also taken fully into account by the groups before recommendations were made.
§ Mr. Ron Daviesasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make it his future practice to make available in the Library minutes of Forestry Commission meetings.
§ Mr. John Stradling ThomasThese are internal meetings at which, among other things, the forestry commissioners discuss and formulate advice to forestry Ministers on policy matters. It would, therefore, be inappropriate for copies of the minutes of commission meetings to be placed in the Library of the House.
