§ Mr. Jannerasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if the responsibilities of the equal opportunities officer in his Department include the introduction and carrying out of an ethnic monitoring exercise, as recommended by the code of the Commission for Racial Equality.

Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State said in his answer to the hon. and learned Member on 26 April 1984, further action in respect of ethnic monitoring in this Department will be considered when the results of the surveys carried out in the north-west and Avon have been evaluated.
