§ Mr. Jannerasked the Secretary of State for Transport (1) whether his Department's existing guidance and instructions covering equality of opportunity and the avoidance of direct or indirect discrimination include specific instructions to comply with the recommendations contained in the code of the Commission for Racial Equality concerning ethnic monitoring;
454W(2) whether the responsibility of the equal opportunities officer in his Department included the responsibility for the introduction and implementation of ethnic monitoring, as recommended by the code of the Commission for Racial Equality.
§ Mr. RidleyAs I said in my reply to the hon. and learned Member on 26 April 1984, at column 590, I shall consider whether further action is needed in respect of ethnic monitoring in my Department when the results of the surveys carried out in the north-west and Avon have been evaluated.
