§ Mr. Skeetasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in what areas cereal-based aldicarb formulations have been used; and whether (a) it has been distributed other than for commercial use and (b) its performance has been monitored to ensure environmental protection.
§ Mrs. FennerThe only formulations of aldicarb cleared under the pesticides safety precautions scheme for use in the United Kingdom are based on coal or gypsum granules. I am not aware of any recent use in this country of any cereal based informulation. The formulation referred to in the answer I gave my hon. Friend on 28 March was based on gypsum.
§ Mr. Skeetasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list any significant instance of the loss of wildlife and game due to the use of pesticides which have either been drawn to his attention or have been invesigated by his Department during the past five years.
§ Mrs. FennerAll reported cases of wildlife or game losses which are suspected to have been caused by pesticides are investigated through my Department's wildlife incident investigation scheme. The figures for the last five years are as follows:
