HC Deb 24 May 1984 vol 60 cc462-3W
Mr. Hume

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what channels of communication exist to ensure that the Irish authorities are fully and properly informed on all aspects of radioactive waste discharge from Sellafield.

Mr. Waldegrave

A meeting between my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State and the deputy Prime Minister of the Irish Republic took place on February 17 under the auspices of the Anglo-Irish inter-governmental council. As a result of that meeting, arrangements have been made for contacts between named officials on each side to cover matters of mutual interest with regard to radioactive waste.
