§ Baroness YoungIn July 1982 the Court of Appeal ruled that Section 3 of the Coroners Act 1887 is mandatory, i.e., that where a coroner is informed that a dead body is lying within his area, he must hold an inquest if the death is one which requires an inquest to be held under Section 3 of the 1887 Act, even though the death occurred abroad.
