§ Mr. Leighasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many foreign nationals have been identified as residing at the anti-nuclear squatters' camps at Greenham common since they were set up; how many foreign nationals have been charged for illegal activities there; how many foreign nationals have been convicted; and how many of those convicted have been subsequently deported to their countries of origin.
470Wreceived a copy of the result; in what capacity any official responsible to his Department was present; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. HurdA prisoner who is facing trial or who is appealing against conviction may be granted facilities to take a polygraph test at his own expense in preparation for his defence or appeal. Mr. Robinson was granted permission to take a "truth drug" test in January 1981 in connection with his appeal. The test was not carried out at the time and when he renewed his request for facilities to take a "truth drug" or polygraph test last September he was told that he still had permission. This was a mistake; it should have been noticed that he was no longer an appellant. A polygraph test on him was carried out on 17 October. Prison staff were present only to escort those carrying out the test. The result has not been communicated to the Home Office.
