HC Deb 22 May 1984 vol 60 c397W
Mr. Gale

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department which local authorities have already adopted the new model byelaws to control straw and stubble burning; and how many he expects to have done so by mid-summer.

Mr. Mellor

In addition to the 104 local authorities listed in table 1 to the reply I gave on 15 May to my hon. Friend's previous question, in columns 98–101, the following authorities have since notified the Home Office that they intend to adopt the new model byelaws:

  • Babergh district council
  • Derwentside district council
  • Elmbridge borough council
  • Great Yarmouth borough council
  • Hartlepool borough council
  • Richmondshire district council
  • Sunderland borough council
  • West Dorset district council

I have no further information about others which may do so by mid-summer.
