§ Mr. Tony Lloydasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the special payment of 40 per cent. of gross approved additional expenditure referred to in his answer of 11 May, Official Report, column 483, will be borne on his Department Votes; and to which Estimates subheads and which public expenditure programmes it will be attributed.
§ Mr. HurdSubject to parliamentary approval the special payment will be borne on one of the Department's Votes under a new subhead. The expenditure will be attributed to programme 9.3 General Protective Services.
§ Mr. Nellistasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for the reports from the chief constables of the 16 police force areas named in his reply to the hon. Member for Coventry, South-East on Monday 14 May, Official Report, column 5, asking them to provide a breakdown of the offences charged against arrested pickets from 14 March to 10 May, inclusive.

§ Mr. Madelasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information he has as to the cost to Bedfordshire county constabulary of police officers from Bedfordshire supporting the Nottinghamshire police in Nottinghamshire during the current dispute in the coal industry; and when he expects such costs to be reimbursed to Bedfordshire county council by his Department.
§ Mr. HurdThe Bedfordshire police estimate that up to 18 May additional costs of about £319,000 had been incurred for mutal aid provided to the Nottinghamshire police. It will be for the Bedfordshire police authority to seek reimbursement from the Nottinghamshire police authority.
