HC Deb 22 May 1984 vol 60 c419W
Mr. Farr

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many children were being looked after in (a) local authority homes, (b) voluntary homes and (c) private children's homes at the latest convenient date in each of the local authority districts of Leicestershire; and how this compares with figures for the previous five years.

Mr. John Patten

The information requested is not collected centrally. I understand, however, that the number of Leicestershire children in local authority and voluntary homes in mid-May in each of the years is as follows:

(a) Local authority homes (b) Voluntary homes
1980 449 12
1981 434 20
1982 402 21
1983 367 22
1984 251 21
